Job Position: HSE Supervisor
Job I.D: 42 Location: Lagos Roles and Responsibilities
Execute daily HSE survey and tour, weekly HSE Inspections and quarterly HSE audits and document the same.
Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency. Maintains records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements.
Maintain HSE related Statistics.
Ensure all non-routine jobs, maintenance, work at height and high risk routine jobs are carried out only after obtaining valid work permit.
Scrutinize the work permit for any deficiency and approve the permit only after inspecting the work site for any known hazards, protections required and all precautionary measures / PPE's been taken as per the job.
Continuously Monitor high risk activities at all time.
Supervise the regular inspection of fire-fighting, safety and emergency response equipment.
Ensure that operations employees and contractors receive HSE inductions for their operations.
Ensure that all incidents, near misses and accidents are reported on timely basis.
Promote positive safety culture amongst employees by effective health and safety programs like tool box talks, circulating HSE alerts, safety award schemes, campaigns e.t.c.
Encourage all employees to report any unsafe acts, conditions, hazardous situations and participate in Health and safety matters and to make HSE Suggestions.
Ensure all employees maintain healthy and safe working conditions in their work area.
Responsible for assisting the HSE Manager in the planning, coordination, organization, staff supervision and operation in order to effect optimum protection of staff, contractors, visitors and company assets (tangible and intangible).
Assist HSE Manager in functional programs and gaining specialized knowledge in some of the functional programs with limited oversight in execution, such as risk assessment, behavioral based safety, environmental, auditing, root cause analysis, incident investigation, e.t.c.
Monitor, maintain, implement and enforce HSE programs and policies.
Maintain standard environmental compliance.
Responsible for the overall safety of operation and health of all employees including contractors. Responsible for compliance with all related HSE regulations as well as corporate compliance requirements.
Act as a steward of leadership, team building, coaching, meeting facilitation, HR policies and procedures such as ethics, harassment, complaint procedures.
Conduct tool box meetings on daily basis and document the same.
Keep record of all related trainings, drills and matters pertaining to health and safety.
Ensure DWC, OSHA, DM Local regulatory compliance requirements relating to training, recordkeeping, permits, reports, policies and procedures and other related compliance issues.
Trains, monitors and coaches team members to improve skill level to ensure adherence to principles, policies and standards of local and corporate health and safety processes in a reliable and cost-effective manner.
Participates in accident investigations, problem resolution, and appropriate feedback (positive and corrective) within the teams and sites.
Follow-up on site monthly audits to ensure action items have been completed.
Maintain all the required documentations, operational checks and reports for the HSE Management system to be compliant with OHSAS 18001/2007 and ISO 14001/2004 standards, including corrective and preventive measures.
Assist in developing and implementing field location emergency response procedures and evacuation plans.
Coordinate and participate in the investigation of accidents and near misses.
Ensure that the relevant HSE documentation is readily available on the site.
Assist with the implementation of Job Safety Analyses and inspect job site activities during particularly hazardous work situations.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the related local authorities e.g. civil defence and local police.
Qualifications and Skills
Diploma in related field is preferred or 5+ years of HSE experience in oil & gas sector. Prefer individuals actively seeking professional certification in NEBOSH and/or IOSH.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Good Command of English.
MS Applications: (Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook).
First Aid Training and Certified fire-fighting training.
NEBOSH General Certification / IOSH Managing Safely.
